Synopsis
Elaine, the abandoned daughter of the Wen family, is forced into a marriage with Gu heir Nathan Cole to save her gravely ill mother. But Nathan mistakes the woman from that fateful night as Vivian, so he humiliates Elaine, doubts her unborn child, and forces her to miscarry. Enduring torment from the Gu household and the schemes of Vivian and her mother, Elaine loses her own mother to suicide and is diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer. As the truth slowly surfaces—that the woman from that night was Elaine and the child was truly his—Nathan is consumed by regret and tries desperately to win her back, but Elaine is already too exhausted to return. The story ends amid her illness and his repentance, leaving one question hanging: Will she survive, and can they ever truly be together?
