Synopsis
Vera Goldstein, a Chicago fertility doctor, discovers that her director, Daniel, illegally sold over 300 patients' frozen eggs without consent. After being fired for reporting the crime, she infiltrates the biotech firm New Era Genetics as a cleaner to gather evidence. Vera forms the “Egg Guardians” group and files a class-action lawsuit, leading to the conviction of Daniel and the firm's CEO. However, she uncovers Project Phoenix, a global ring creating genetically edited "designer babies" from smuggled eggs. With the help of lab whistleblower Clara, her lawyer daughter Lily, and teen designer-baby Emma, Vera tracks modified children worldwide, establishes a free medical network for them, and advocates for global genetic regulation. She also creates a fertility rights hotline to expose medical exploitation while mending family ties and honoring stolen biological origins.
