Synopsis
At the Blackwell Pack’s annual ball, an Omega showed up with a swollen belly.
Only then did I learn that after every intimate night Ethan and I shared, she had sneaked into our room and stolen the used condoms from the trash can.
She had gotten an ancient spell from a witch—using Ethan's genetic material as a conduit, she could magically conceive his child.
Werewolf conception was notoriously difficult, making every pup priceless.
Back then, Ethan had looked at her with pity and said, "If she's truly carrying my bloodline, I can't just abandon her."
Later, while I slept, that Omega slipped wolfsbane into my dinner.
After I died, she took my place and became the Pack’s Luna.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the very night she first stole a condom.
This time, I sprinkled silver dust all over them.
The suffocating agony still gripped my chest.
I gasped for air, snapping my eyes open. Moonlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a silver glow over the sleeping Alpha beside me—Ethan Blackwell, Alpha of the Blackwell Pack, and my mate.
Without hesitation, I slipped out of bed.
Guided by the moonlight, I pulled open the bottom drawer of the vanity and took out a silver dagger from its velvet box.
Ethan had given me this dagger for my birthday last year, telling me that if he ever betrayed me, I could use it to end his life.
Of course, I wouldn't do that.
The price of killing an Alpha was far too steep for me to bear.
In my past life, in the days before Lily poisoned me, an elder wolf told me that silver dust could dismantle that ancient spell within months.
Back then, it was already too late.
Now, I still had time.
I used a file to scrape silver dust from the blade, gathering a small pinch and scattering it evenly over the used condoms in the wastebasket.
Done. I crawled back under the covers. The second my head hit the pillow, the bedroom door creaked open.
A slender silhouette sneaked inside. Dressed in a maid's uniform, it was Lily Miller—the pack Omega.
She paused when she saw the condoms in the trash, her face twisting with bitter jealousy. "Shameless bitch. Wrapping herself around the Alpha like that... aren't you afraid of dying in his bed?"
A cold sneer rose inside me. Anyone hearing that would think she was Ethan's true mate!
In truth, she was nothing more than a stray Omega I had found bleeding on our territory border.
She had been covered in wounds, barely clinging to life. Out of pity, I brought her in, gave her shelter, and gave her a job.
In return, she tried to seduce Ethan behind my back. As a maid cleaning our room, she stole his used condoms—having learned a dark spell from a witch to magically conceive his child using his genetic material.
Werewolf pups were rare and sacred.
In my past life, when I found out, I offered her a lump sum to walk away.
She claimed I was humiliating her and threatened to kill herself.
Ethan instantly accused me of being cruel and heartless, using it as an excuse to protect her.
We had a massive fight.
And Lily used that chaos to lace my dinner with wolfsbane.
Wolfsbane was lethal to our kind. I died in silent agony.
After my death, Lily used the child in her belly to replace me as Luna of the Blackwell Pack.
I had drowned in hatred. Now, given a second chance, I peeked through my eyelashes and watched Lily hesitate over the trash can before picking the condom with the most fluid left inside.
"Just wait until I carry the Alpha's heir," she muttered with venom. "Ethan will kick you out of this pack for good!"
She turned and slipped away into the shadows.
Tucked beneath the covers, I let out a silent, icy chuckle.
If she wanted to "conceive" so badly, I’d let her have her wish.
I just hoped she wouldn't cry when the truth blew up in her face.Early the next morning, word arrived from the council hall.
The Lich Pack was calling off their alliance with us.
The Lich Pack was one of the most powerful packs in the region, and their Alpha, Jennifer Quinn, was a close friend of mine. I had spent six months negotiating this treaty, pulling countless all-nighters to finalize the terms. We were just days away from signing. Why would she suddenly pull out?
Suspicious, I hurried to the council hall.
There stood Lily, shedding her usual meek facade. She had cornered Jennifer, speaking with condescending arrogance.
"Well, well. If it isn't the Alpha of the Lich Pack. What brings you to Blackwell territory so bright and early? Must be something desperate."
She stuck out her belly—though she was barely showing—as if carrying the crown jewels, murmuring, "I'm carrying the Blackwell Alpha's bloodline, you know. Outsiders would do well to know their place."
Jennifer's brow furrowed. Ignoring Lily, she looked straight at me. "Olivia, is this how your pack conducts itself? An Omega daring to disrespect an Alpha?"
My expression darkened. I stepped forward, blocking Lily. "Lily, shut your mouth and get out."
Lily raised her voice instead. "Why should I shut up? Did I lie? Who knows if she's using this treaty as an excuse to seduce Ethan!"
"Lily!"
Furious, I slapped her across the face. "You don't get to act like a savage here!"
Suddenly, a heavily jeweled, stocky woman rushed out of nowhere and slammed into my lower back. "You bitch! How dare you lay a hand on my daughter!"
I crashed to the floor, my forehead striking the corner of the heavy wooden table.
Amid the chaos, a cold, detached voice cut through the room. "What's going on here?"
Ethan stood there in his sharp navy uniform, the roaring wolf crest of the Blackwell Pack embroidered across his chest. He looked aloof, completely detached from the mess around him.
Lily's eyes lit up. She dropped to Ethan's feet, sobbing as she clutched his leg. "Ethan! Our pack has rules, but Olivia uses her Luna status to treat us lower-ranking wolves like dirt! She hits me and screams at me!"
"Just because I'm pregnant, she's jealous! She's doing everything she can to hurt our baby!"
"Is this true?" Ethan frowned, his gaze sweeping over the pack members gathered outside the hall.
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances, unsure of what to say.
Ethan assumed their silence meant they feared my retribution. His face hardened.
"Lily comes from a tragic background. I let her stay to give her a chance at life, yet you let jealousy turn you into a bully. I'm deeply disappointed in you."
"Olivia, apologize to Lily."
I didn't have time to waste on the two of them. I scrambled up and ran to block Jennifer, who was already storming toward the exit. "Jennifer, let me explain. This is a misunderstanding—"
Jennifer was a brilliant, stunning young Alpha, yet Lily had reduced her to a home-wrecker.
"The people in your pack..." Jennifer looked at the mess in the hall and shook her head. "I don't think we can do business anymore."After Jennifer walked out, Ethan remained on his high horse. "An alliance is just politics. Pack rivalries are superficial, Olivia. You're far too obsessed with power."
I took a deep breath. Ethan's parents were cunning and manipulative to the core—how on earth did they raise such a pompous, sanctimonious fool?
Meanwhile, the Millers were wailing, demanding compensation.
"Our innocent, pure daughter came to your pack and somehow ended up pregnant! How is she supposed to survive after this?"
"You have to give us an answer!"
Pack members were crowding around, whispering. I sneered. "She got knocked up out of wedlock because you failed to raise her right. What does that have to do with me?"
"And another thing—Lily, you are exiled from the Blackwell Pack!"
Lily scoffed, fully prepared. "You dare banish an Omega carrying the Alpha's blood? I'll take this straight to the Pack Elders!"
"Olivia is barren and jealous! The Blackwell Luna can't stand anyone else, so she's trying to murder the Alpha's heir!"
Using the Blackwell name, she spread rumors quickly across neighboring packs.
I was almost amused. Mr. and Mrs. Miller thought I was cornered and tried to force me to track down the man who got Lily pregnant.
I agreed with a smile, pulling out my phone to demand an immediate paternity test.
Lily shoved her parents aside. "Idiots! What do you know? This baby is my ticket to everything! Once I give birth, I will be the Luna of this pack!"
She shot me a smug, covert glare.
She was probably already daydreaming about kicking me out.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller paused, gears turning in their heads. Suddenly, they demanded that I personally take care of Lily's pregnancy.
"You have to pay us a compensation fee too, to cover our daughter's pregnancy expenses!"
They made it sound like Lily was carrying the child for my benefit.
Ethan nodded solemnly. "Taking care of the vulnerable within our pack is our duty."
I paused, then smiled sweetly. "Alright."
"Lily is a member of our pack, after all. Since she's expecting, of course I'll take responsibility."
Right in front of them, I had Lily moved into the main mansion. I even summoned the pack healer and ordered the highest-tier prenatal care and tonics available.
Lily thought I was bending to the pressure of her unborn child. She immediately let it go to her head, barking orders at me. "You! Go brew me some soup! Use the best herbal tonics!"
The staff stared at her in utter disbelief. "Lily, are you insane? Those rare herbs were prepared specifically for Lady Olivia! How dare an Omega demand them?"
Lily sneered. "So what if I'm an Omega? The baby in my womb is worth ten of her!"
"...What is there to be proud of about getting pregnant out of wedlock?"
Everyone thought she had lost her mind. But I didn't lose my temper; instead, I personally served her a bowl of tonic with a smile.
Lily grew even cockier. "Good to see you know your place."
She took a sip, then went right back to bossing the servants around, screaming at and hitting anyone who displeased her.
She even went behind my back and ordered a custom gown identical to mine.
I let her run wild.
Six months passed, leading up to the night of the Blackwell Pack's annual gala.
The pack hall was packed with members, the chandeliers gleaming, moonlight spilling through the grand archways. A live orchestra played a smooth melody as I walked onto the dance floor on Ethan's arm, soaking in everyone's admiration.
As the song ended, the master of ceremonies took the stage with a grin. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our annual pack gala! Let us all give our warmest thanks to Luna Olivia for organizing this magnificent evening—"
Before he could finish, the heavy ballroom doors slammed open.
A shrill scream shattered the room.
"I object!"Lily stood in the doorway, dressed in a sweeping white gown, her six-month pregnant belly prominently displayed. She wore a look of triumphant arrogance, looking ready to crush me under her heel.
The ballroom went dead silent. All eyes locked onto her.
The host blinked in shock. "Who are you? On what grounds do you object?"
Lily held her head high and marched in. "On the grounds that I am the future mistress of the Blackwell Pack! The child in my belly belongs to Ethan!"
The room erupted into gasps and whispers.
Ethan froze, his hand still resting on his wine glass.
Right in front of the entire pack, Lily launched into a vivid recount of how she had stolen the condoms and used an ancient witch's spell to conceive his baby.
Then, she threw herself onto her knees before Mrs. Blackwell, pleading desperately. "Mom! The baby in my womb is the only heir to the Blackwell line!"
Her parents chimed in right behind her. "That's right! Our daughter is the Blackwell family's greatest savior! How can you treat her like a cheap maid?"
They pointed accusing fingers at me. "It's all because of that vicious woman! She refuses to accept our Lily! You have to give our daughter justice!"
Mrs. Blackwell looked mortified. She glanced at me nervously, then at Lily's protruding belly, trapped in a corner.
After a moment of calculation, knowing she couldn't afford to offend my family—the powerful Hartley Pack—she snapped coldly, "Guards! Drag this raving lunatic out!"
Lily's cries hitched. She stared at Mrs. Blackwell in disbelief.
She failed to realize that Ethan and his mother had originally been nothing more than illegitimate outcasts among Mr. Blackwell Sr.'s many bastard children. Ethan was only chosen as the Alpha heir because I took an interest in him.
To Mrs. Blackwell, an unverified pregnancy couldn't compare to the military and political backing of the Hartley Pack.
Seeing the guards close in, Lily gritted her teeth and dashed toward the open balcony.
"Ethan! I'm carrying your child! If you refuse to claim him, I'll jump right now!"
Amid the pandemonium, I caught the subtle spark of vanity in Ethan's eyes.
"Olivia, she's pregnant," he chided softly. "Why must you be so aggressive?"
Aggressive?
I sneered internally. The little flower had put on quite a show, and my "virtuous" Alpha was clearly flattered.
I didn't bother arguing with him. Instead, I spoke up, my voice carrying over the crowd. "Lily, are you absolutely certain that baby belongs to Ethan?"
Lily didn't hesitate. "Just because you're barren doesn't mean everyone else is! The blood in my child is pure Blackwell!"
"Is that so..." I drawled, amusement dancing in my eyes.
A second later, the double doors swung open once more.
An elderly woman in dark, flowing robes walked in slowly. Around her neck hung a silver pendant of wolf fangs, and antique rings adorned her fingers. She carried the distinct, heavy scent of herbs and burning sage.
"A witch," someone whispered in the crowd.
