Synopsis

Six years later, powerless Ella is the lowest “magic-less trash” at the Magic Academy, surviving with her foolish adoptive father. Fate is cruel: her biological brother Julian brutally beats her; Duchess Octavia, longing for her dead daughter, smashes the dirty child against the sacred blood-testing stone. The stone flashes gold but is extinguished by the seal. Enraged, Octavia silently allows Julian to kill; Bram is severed in the spine protecting Ella.
To earn one gold coin for medicine, 8-year-old Ella endures humiliation and jumps into a freezing ice lake. The icy water cleans the Star Pendant, revealing its faint blue glow. Climbing ashore, she runs into the Duchess—who stares at the pendant, stunned.
