Synopsis
Faith Washington, head nurse of a busy public hospital’s ER, discovers stark racial bias in triage wait times: Black patients wait twice as long as white counterparts with identical severe symptoms. She spends months analyzing medical data and creates a colored map visualizing the unfair disparity, exposing systemic unconscious prejudice within the medical system. Facing workplace retaliation and public debate, she refuses to stay silent. She pushes the hospital to adopt objective digital triage algorithms and launches anti-bias staff training. Over decades, her data-driven reform spreads nationwide, inspiring medical equity tools adopted by countless medical facilities. Her granddaughter later follows her path in public health. The quiet, realistic drama centers on medical justice, institutional change, ordinary courage and the power of objective data to confront hidden inequity.
