Rejecting My Alpha His Regret Came Too Late

Synopsis

My mate was the Alpha of the Crimson Pack, and he had a habit of hiring Omegas as pack maids.
At first, I didn't think much of it.
Gradually, though, he started bringing those female Omegas right into our manor, letting them take over my bedroom and use my personal things.
He even slept with them in my bed.
He told me, "You’re just a human anyway. You can’t even feel the full mate bond. Your only purpose is to serve me well."
That was the moment I realized the relationship I had guarded so carefully was already rotten to the core.
On our fifth anniversary, I formally rejected our mate bond in front of the entire pack.
All I received in return was his cold mockery.
"Joyce, you’re not young anymore. Do you really think any other man would want you if you left me?"
I slipped off the platinum ring from my finger and tossed it straight into the trash can.
"You're right, I'm not young anymore. That's exactly why I need to cut my losses now."
Ethan spent the entire night smoking in the living room.
At dawn, he walked into the bedroom and told me to get over myself.
"Lily is just an Omega staying at the manor temporarily. If you're throwing a tantrum about rejecting me just because of her, there’s really no need!"
Looking into his venomous eyes, my heart grew colder inch by inch.
My mind raced, involuntarily flashing back to the countless photos of different females stored on his phone.
Lately, though, he seemed to have settled down and become devoted to just one.
Rumors had been spreading fast throughout the pack that he was completely obsessed with the newly hired Omega, Lily.
Not only had he set up a private lounge for her in his office, but he had also custom-ordered an oversized luxury bed from overseas just to pamper her delicate body.
The pack members were even placing bets, wondering how this innocent-looking Omega had managed to keep Ethan away from the manor for three straight months.
They whispered that she would become the next Luna.
Halfway through our argument, Ethan got a phone call and rushed toward the door.
Before leaving, he turned back to glare at me.
"Joyce, you need time to calm down. I’ll book you an appointment with a Healer."
A solitary tear fell in silence.
During our hardest year, our entire pack was crammed into an old apartment on the outskirts of town. The boiler was broken, and it was too cold to reach basic room temperature, so we had to survive the winter with space heaters and thick blankets.
Back then, I wasn't sick or crazy.
Yet after the pack moved into this grand manor and life got good, I became the hysterical lunatic in everyone's eyes.
My phone on the nightstand buzzed twice, followed by a stream of photos popping onto the screen.
At the very bottom was a taunting message:
"Joyce, do I look pretty in this wedding dress? Ethan says I look like a princess. He wouldn't just be humoring me, would he?"
In the picture, Lily was draped in pure white lace, her slender arms wrapped around Ethan’s neck, her face glowing with triumphant arrogance.
My knuckles turned white as I gripped the phone.
So Ethan was busy, but he still found the time to do a wedding photoshoot. In his groom’s tuxedo, he looked even more handsome than I remembered.
I had been his Luna for five years, yet we had never taken a single wedding photo.
In the past, the pack had truly been broke.
Ethan had once promised me:
"Joy, once the pack’s finances turn around, I’ll make you the happiest Luna in the world."
"Don't you love diamonds? You said they represent eternity. One day, I’ll have a custom wedding gown made for you, completely covered in diamonds."
"Okay, it's a promise," I had replied with a sweet smile.
Later, the pack’s business grew bigger and bigger. He started staying out late, and the promised wedding photos vanished into thin air.
I gave a self-deprecating laugh, tears spilling over uncontrollably.
Ethan, you really broke your promises so many times.
I waited up until three in the morning when the front door finally clicked open, just as I expected.
Lily walked in, supporting a dead-drunk Ethan.
"Ethan, please hold back a little, okay? There are other people in the house."
I looked up, only to see Ethan holding Lily, kissing her passionately without a care in the world.
Noticing my pale, furious face, Lily quickly apologized in a trembling voice.
"Joyce, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize you were still here."
Her words made me laugh out of sheer anger, my voice icy cold.
"I am in my own home. Do I need to report my whereabouts to you?"
That single sentence made Lily’s eyes well up with tears.
Ethan noticed she was crying. Without missing a beat, he leaned down to kiss away her tears, then turned to snap at me.
"Look what you did! You scared an Omega to tears. You really outdid yourself, didn't you?"
I bit my lip, forcing back my own tears.
"Ethan, could you please... stop bringing other females into this manor?"
He knew I had emotional boundaries, especially when it came to loyalty.
I had zero tolerance for cheating.
Yet he kept doing the exact things that tore me apart.
A second ago, Lily was melting into Ethan’s embrace, but now she shrank back like a startled fawn.
Looking at me timidly, she whimpered, "Joyce, I know you hate me. I'll leave right now."
However, before she could take a single step, Ethan pulled her back into his arms and held her tight.
"No! I forbid you to leave."Meeting my devastated gaze, Ethan's tone grew even more impatient.
"It’s raining outside. Where do you expect her to go?"
I fought the urge to rush over and slap them both across the face.
"Where she goes is none of my business! But one thing is clear: I won't allow her to take another step into the master bedroom. She won't dirty my bed."
Feeling humiliated, Lily broke free from Ethan’s embrace and ran out the front door.
"Was it really necessary to be so aggressive?"
Ethan glared daggers at me and sprinted out into the rain after her.
The next morning, with a heavy heart, I went to the Healer's clinic for a follow-up. The Healer informed me that I was pregnant with a pup.
My immediate reaction was, "I can't keep this pup."
The Healer frowned in confusion. "Mrs. Miller, you know how hard it is for a wolf to conceive. This child didn't come easily. How can you just give it up?"
Swayed by the Healer’s gentle persuasion, I held the ultrasound report and found myself walking toward Ethan’s pack office as if drawn by a spell.
His Beta dared to block my way, stammering that Ethan was meeting an important guest and wasn't available.
The very next second, Lily's untimely, joyful giggles shattered the fragile facade of peace.
"It must have been tough for you, standing guard for them all this time."
I gave the Beta a self-mocking smile, crumpled the medical report in my hand, and shoved the office door open.
When I saw the dirty scene inside, my heart clenched violently in pain.
Seeing me walk in, both of them panicked.
Ethan, without missing a beat, straightened his clothes and quickly composed himself into his usual dignified Alpha appearance.
"My back has been aching from dealing with pack affairs lately. Lily was just giving me a massage. It’s not what you think."
I didn't want to hear his pathetic excuses and threw the crumpled paper straight at his chest.
"I'm pregnant with your pup. When are you going to end things with her? I don't want my pup growing up watching you fool around with this woman. It will ruin their childhood."
"What? You’re pregnant?"
Ethan eagerly smoothed out the crumpled report, rushing over to pull me into a tight embrace.
"Joy, thank you! My parents have been praying for an heir forever. You're the hero of our pack!"
I knew how much Ethan loved pups. That was why, despite the low conception rate between wolves and humans, I had endured painful hormone treatments every month at the clinic.
Just when I thought he might finally change his ways and come back to me,
Lily's mocking laughter rang out from behind us.
"What’s the big deal about being pregnant?"
With that, she pulled an ultrasound report from her designer bag, playfully winking as she handed it to Ethan.
"I wanted to surprise you, but someone ruined my plan, so I had to announce it early."
"Ethan, I’m younger than Joyce, which means I have a higher chance of giving you a strong male pup. You’ll let me keep this child, won’t you?"
Ethan was so thrilled he looked like he had lost his mind.
"Of course! You and Joyce are both women I love. Having you both pregnant at the same time is the greatest blessing the Moon Goddess has ever given me!"
With that, he instinctively let go of me, bent down, and scooped up Lily, who was standing barefoot on the cold floor.
"How many times have I told you? The floor is cold, don't walk barefoot! You little dummy, you never listen."
Lily hooked her arms around his neck, looking straight at me with a triumphant smirk.
"Joyce, my pup is almost three months along. If everything goes smoothly, I’ll deliver a baby boy before you do. That way, your pup won't waste pack resources—they can just wear my son’s hand-me-downs."
I froze where I stood, my limbs stiff and ice-cold.
Ethan affectionately tapped Lily on the nose.
"Lily, you’re always so considerate."
Ethan couldn't resist gently stroking Lily’s flat stomach, then turned to look at me with a beaming smile.
"From now on, you two can take care of your pregnancies together and share tips. Thanks to me, you won’t feel lonely during this time—you even have a pregnancy buddy!"He seemed thoroughly pleased with his little masterpiece, completely dismissing all the Healers who had previously claimed he had fertility issues.
He immediately pulled out his phone and posted on social media: "To all the bastards who said I was shooting blanks, how's that for a slap in the face? Come next spring, I'll be a father to two pups! What can I say? I'm just naturally blessed."
Before I even stepped out of the pack territory gates, congratulations flooded my phone.
The pack group chat went into an absolute frenzy.
Some people kissed up to me, praising my fertility: "Joyce, you're amazing! Twins right off the bat!"
Others aggressively probed for my secret, wanting to pop out two at once to save trouble.
I ignored all of them and sent a cold, public message into the group:
"I think everyone is misunderstanding. I don't have the magical ability to carry two pups at once. The one in my belly took a fortune in medical treatments just to keep viable."
"However, the little Omega he's keeping on the side is younger and far more capable. She's already three months pregnant with his seed, promising a male pup. If anyone has questions, ask her instead—she clearly has more experience."
Ethan's parents were respected elders of the pack and cared about pack honor above all else.
They were also grateful people who knew that without my loyalty and support, the Crimson Pack would never have achieved its current wealth.
They traveled miles from their estate, demanding that Ethan cut all ties with Lily immediately.
Lily burst into tears on the spot, clutching her belly and screaming in pain.
Ethan’s mother, an experienced Luna, spat right in her face and scolded her harshly:
"You scheming homewrecker! We will never acknowledge a shameless woman like you. Take your little bastard and get the hell out of our pack!"
Unable to endure the humiliation, Lily fell to her knees and begged me for mercy.
"Joyce, I know you complained to Ethan’s mother, but I don't blame you. It was my fault for overstepping and hoping to share Ethan’s love. I don't deserve it. I'll leave right now."
With that, she wiped her tears and stood up, storming off as if wronged.
Ethan looked utterly heartbroken. He rushed after her, coaxed her into his car, and comforted her for a long time before returning to unleash his fury on me.
"Joyce, get on your knees outside and apologize to Lily right now!"
I looked at him coldly, refusing to yield an inch.
"Ethan, did you leave your brain inside Lily's womb when you broke our mate bond? I am the Luna, and she is just an Omega. Why on earth should I apologize to her?"
He laughed in sheer rage, glaring at me with dark eyes. "Fine. Then don't blame me if you spend the rest of your life sleeping alone in an empty bed!"
After that fight, Ethan packed his bags and moved out, openly living in shameless bliss with Lily.
In the days that followed, Lily never missed a chance to flaunt Ethan's affection for her.
A stream of photos flooded my inbox, showing them posing in front of a new luxury mansion.
"Because I felt wronged, he stood up to his parents for me and bought this mansion just to keep me safe from anyone who might hurt me."
"His photo gallery is filled with pictures of me now. Hehe, there's no room for any other woman."
"The nursery is already prepared. He told me he only cares about the pup I give him, and that the other one might as well be treated like a stray dog."
My eyes burned, but there were no tears left to shed.
During my eight years as the Luna of the Crimson Pack, I had cried more than enough tears for him.
From now on, not a single drop more.
That afternoon, I drove to the clinic and firmly booked an abortion.
The moment my back touched the cold operating table, a strange wave of grief washed over me.
"Mrs. Miller, are you absolutely ready?"
The Healer asked one last time, worried I might regret it.
"Yes. Please start right away. Every second I spend trapped in this suffocating mate bond feels like torture."
As the anesthesia was injected into my veins, an overwhelming exhaustion pulled me under, like falling into a long, dark dream. In the dream, I went back to when I was seventeen. Ethan was waiting for me at the pack boundary, foolishly holding a bottle of warm milk inside his jacket to keep it from getting cold.
Then came our eighteenth year, when he officially inherited the Alpha title.
Ethan and I walked hand-in-hand to the pack hall.
He bought a single red rose from an elderly couple and patted his chest, swearing to the heavens that he would love me until his hair turned white.
Life was hard back then, but it was sweet.
Later, I used my human connections to secure lucrative commercial partnerships for the pack. Our pack flourished, and he kept his promise of giving me a life of luxury.
And then, he broke our sacred mate bond.
A sharp pain tore through me, yanking me back to reality.
When I opened my eyes, the procedure was already over.
I asked the Healer to give me the tiny, undeveloped embryo.
It should have had a chance to see this world, but Ethan destroyed everything.
"Baby, Mommy loves you so much, but Mommy needs to learn how to love herself first."
As soon as I returned to the manor, Ethan's call came through.
"Lily said your pearl necklace looked pretty, so I let her borrow it. But the quality was so cheap that she accidentally snapped the string when she pulled on it. She feels terrible and wants to apologize to you."
"If you have time, bring yourself over to the riverside mansion. And bake a fresh fruit cake while you're at it—it’s Lily’s birthday today, and she loves your baking."
Hearing this, shock hit me first. I rushed over to the vanity table to search through my jewelry box, only to find the necklace completely gone.
That was the last heirloom my late mother had left me.
"Hello? Joyce, are you listening to me?"
Ethan’s voice turned sharp with impatience.
Fury flared in my chest. Stripping away all my past gentleness, I screamed into the phone, "Ethan, you bastard! Do you have any conscience left? That pearl necklace was my mother's final keepsake! Who gave you the right to hand it to Lily?"
Even through the phone, I could feel his cold, unapologetic arrogance.
"Joyce, who do you think you’re yelling at? It’s just a cheap string of pearls. I’ll transfer some money to your account later so you can buy a new one."
"Instead of throwing a childish fit, you'd better get into the kitchen and make that cake."
My knees gave out from sheer fury, and I collapsed onto the floor.
Controlling my shaky breaths, I clenched my fists and forced myself to stand.
"Fine. I’ll make it right now. But tomorrow morning, I expect to see you at the Pack Council Hall."
Ethan fell silent for a few seconds before sighing in annoyance. "Tell me, how long do you want me to spend visiting our old pack memories with you this time?"
My heart sank, and I was about to tell him to stop flattering himself.
Lily’s sweet, delicate voice piped up first in the background. "If Joyce doesn't want to bake it, never mind. I don't have to eat it."
Her pathetic act of playing the martyr was utterly sickening.
The next second, Ethan agreed without hesitation.
"Fine, I’ll go with you. But this is the last time. Honestly, Joyce, you're becoming more unreasonable by the day."
When I arrived at the mansion, Lily was already waiting at the front door, clearly eager to flaunt her new luxury life in my face.
"I'm so sorry to make you deliver this yourself, Joyce. You have to blame Ethan—he always says your cooking is so much better than the maid's."
I spared her a flat look and shoved the cake box into her hands.
"Then you'd better savor every bite, because you'll never get another chance."
Lily’s eyes gleamed with smug triumph. "You're joking, Joyce. Whenever I crave it, all it takes is one word from me, and Ethan will order you to bake another one and bring it right over."
"Tsk, looking at you now, you're living worse than a maid."
Ethan walked over, completely unbothered, and urged me to leave. "Now that the cake is here, you can go."
I spoke in an icy tone, "Tomorrow morning. Pack Council Hall."

He seemed thoroughly pleased with his little masterpiece, completely dismissing all the Healers who had previously claimed he had fertility issues. Do you have any conscience left? That pearl necklace was my mother's final keepsake! Who gave you the right to hand it to Lily?" Even through the phone, I could feel his cold, unapologetic arrogance. "Joyce, who do you think you’re yelling at? It’s just a cheap string of pearls. I’ll transfer some money to your account later so you can buy a new one." "Instead of throwing a childish fit, you'd better get into the kitchen and make that cake." My knees gave out from sheer fury, and I collapsed onto the floor. Controlling my shaky breaths, I clenched my fists and forced myself to stand. "Fine. I’ll make it right now. But tomorrow morning, I expect to see you at the Pack Council Hall." Ethan fell silent for a few seconds before sighing in annoyance. "Tell me, how long do you want me to spend visiting our old pack memories with you this time?" My heart sank, and I was about to tell him to stop flattering himself. Lily’s sweet, delicate voice piped up first in the background. "If Joyce doesn't want to bake it, never mind. I don't have to eat it." Her pathetic act of playing the martyr was utterly sickening. The next second, Ethan agreed without hesitation. "Fine, I’ll go with you. But this is the last time. Honestly, Joyce, you're becoming more unreasonable by the day." When I arrived at the mansion, Lily was already waiting at the front door, clearly eager to flaunt her new luxury life in my face. "I'm so sorry to make you deliver this yourself, Joyce. You have to blame Ethan—he always says your cooking is so much better than the maid's." I spared her a flat look and shoved the cake box into her hands. "Then you'd better savor every bite, because you'll never get another chance." Lily’s eyes gleamed with smug triumph. "You're joking, Joyce. Whenever I crave it, all it takes is one word from me, and Ethan will order you to bake another one and bring it right over." "Tsk, looking at you now, you're living worse than a maid." Ethan walked over, completely unbothered, and urged me to leave. "Now that the cake is here, you can go." I spoke in an icy tone, "Tomorrow morning. Pack Council Hall."
