Chapter 1

For five years, Yale Xander worked as a lowly servant in the Xavier household, all to help his girlfriend, Moon Xavier, who lost her memory, remember him. He treated every man she dated with respect and humility. He let her take her anger out on him whenever she was in a bad mood. Even after her childhood friend kicked him down the stairs and broke both his legs, Yale still forced a smile and told her it was fine. All he asked in return was that she visit him more often. Just when Moon finally agreed to seek treatment for her memory loss, Yale went to the butler and asked to end his employment and leave. His best friend, Cody Xavier, rushed over. He grabbed Yale by the shoulders and shook him. “You’re leaving now? Yale, have you lost your mind? “Is this because Moon is marrying Justin? She has lost her memory! Just hold on a little longer. Once she remembers you, she’ll regret everything she’s done to you.” Yale fell silent for a moment. Then, he let out a bitter laugh. “I can’t do this anymore.” Chapter 1 Five years ago, Moon Xavier took control of the Xavier family from her father with ruthless determination. She forced her father to give up his power because she wanted to marry Yale Xander, a man from an ordinary family. But on the way to their wedding, they got into a car accident. Moon protected Yale from the impact and suffered severe injuries. The doctors could not save her. Yale was devastated. In just three days, he made dozens of attempts to end his life. One time, he cut his wrist with a sharpened stone, and bright red blood pooled on the floor. Cody Xavier could not stand to see him suffer anymore. He went to the hospital room and told him the truth. “Moon isn’t dead! She survived, but she lost her memory. “Justin took advantage of the situation and pushed himself on her. He convinced her that he was the man she loved and the one who understood her best.” Yale had been numb with despair, but his eyes suddenly lit up. He grabbed Cody tightly by the sleeve. “Then, take me to her! I’ll tell her the truth! “Or you can tell her for me!” Cody looked away. Yale sensed that something was wrong. His voice grew softer. “Is there a problem?” Cody looked troubled. “Justin’s my best friend! “He’s loved Moon for years. He finally has a chance to be with her. How can I help you break them up? “Besides, Justin is the heir of the Mercer family, while your dad is just a farmer. Anyone can see that he and my sister are a better match. I’m doing this for your own good. What good can come from a man trying to move up in the world through a woman?” Yale stared at the man who had once promised to protect him for the rest of his life. After a long silence, Yale finally said, “He’s your friend, and I’m not?” “Don’t try to guilt-trip me!” Cody snapped. He paused for a moment and said, “I’ll find a way to get you a job as a servant in the Xavier household. You can figure out the rest yourself. Is that good enough?” Yale said without hesitation, “Yes.” He turned down an offer from one of the best hospitals overseas and stayed in the Xavier household as a servant. He did every dirty, exhausting job they gave him and watched Moon get close to one lover after another. The first time he tried to stop Moon, he told her everything. He had been full of hope that she would remember him. Instead, the butler, Liam Carter, dragged him outside and slapped him ninety-nine times. His face was almost unrecognizable afterward. The second time, they had him committed to a psychiatric hospital because they thought he was insane. When he finally got out, he was painfully thin. The third time, Moon had been drinking, and she dragged him into bed with her. Yale tried to push her away, but Moon only gave him a cold smile. “You went to all this trouble to get my attention. Isn’t this what you wanted? “Fine. You can have it.” After that terrible night, Yale became one of Moon’s many lovers. Moon was kind and generous to her other lovers, but she looked down on Yale. She also let Justin make his life miserable. The day Justin kicked Yale down the stairs, Yale broke both legs. He was in terrible pain, but Moon did not even look at him. Instead, she turned to Justin and proposed to him. “The others are just for fun. You’re the only one I’ll marry. “I agreed to get treatment for my memory loss. But even if I remember everything, I won’t marry a man like him.” Cody frowned. “That’s it? “Hmph! Looks like you don’t care about my sister that much after all. I knew it. Justin is the only man good enough for her.” Yale closed his eyes to hide the sadness. It was not just because of that. Once his legs had healed enough for him to walk again, Yale cried. Even then, he still refused to give up. When he passed Moon’s study, he heard her talking to Justin. “Moon, you never lost your memory. Why did you lie to Yale? Why keep him around just to punish him?” Moon sat behind the desk. Her fingers tapped lightly against the surface with cold fingertips. “The day of the accident, Yale got out of the car and left me inside. The car could have exploded at any moment. “My dad was right. A man like him doesn’t deserve to be my husband. But I don’t want to let him go just for him to chase after other women. “These five years were his punishment.” Yale stood outside the study. His mind went completely blank. Moon had not lost her memories! She had only been angry because she thought he had abandoned her! But he had not! After the accident, Yale used his bare hands to clear the debris off Moon. His fingers were cut badly. He dragged Moon away from the danger and shouted for someone to call an ambulance. Yale only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Cody arrive. Then, he passed out. Why had Moon misunderstood him? He almost rushed into the study to explain everything. Just then, Justin said, “How do you know he abandoned you?” “Cody told me.” Moon’s eyes shone with conflicting emotions. She was in pain, but she also seemed to take satisfaction in getting her revenge. “Cody is Yale’s closest friend. He would never make something like that up.” It seemed Cody was behind everything. Yale went completely still. Suddenly, he had no strength left. Moon did not believe him. She had spent five years punishing and humiliating him. Even his best friend had betrayed him. How could he keep going? When Cody was right in front of him, Yale wanted to ask him why he had done it. He thought, ‘I know Justin grew up with you. Still, I went to school with you for ten years. ‘You and Justin have always been close. But I once saved you from a group of troublemakers. I even rushed into a bar for you and hit the man who was hurting you with a beer bottle. ‘Moon and I only met because of you. ‘Why did you do this to me?!’ Yale wanted to ask that, but in the end, he only said, “Yes. I guess I don’t care about her that much. “I’m tired. I just want to leave.” Cody froze. He was about to say something else when they heard a noise behind them. Moon walked through the door. She had just taken off her cream-colored coat and held it over one arm. Her cold gaze fell on Yale. “You’re leaving?” Chapter 2 Cody quickly said, “Moon, that’s not what he meant. “He heard you were getting married, so he was worried Justin wouldn’t want him around!” The iciness in Moon’s eyes faded as she understood. She walked over to the couch and sat down. Then, she lit a slender cigarette. Moon casually reached out and pressed the burning tip against Yale’s arm. “Ah!!!” Moon did not even flinch at his scream. Her voice was cold and indifferent. “Yale, don’t think too highly of yourself. “Someone like you can’t affect Justin. Stay here and behave yourself.” The skin on his arm burned, and he could smell the faint scent of scorched flesh. But the ache in his heart was worse. Yale had wanted to tell her that he was leaving, but he did not want to cause any more trouble. He covered the burn and said in a trembling voice, “I understand.” Moon glanced at him. “I hope you do. If you’re so worried about Justin not liking you, then go take good care of him. “There’s porridge warming in the kitchen. Take it to him.” Yale forced himself to stand and walked to the kitchen. He filled a bowl with porridge. The familiar smell made his eyes sting. He knew Moon had made it herself. Whenever he was sick in the past, Moon would cook for him. He had once been amazed that the head of the Xavier family could cook so well. Moon had tapped him on the nose and said, “If you like it that much, I’ll make it for you for the rest of my life.” Those words still echoed in his mind, but everything had changed. Yale wiped away his tears and carried the porridge to Justin’s room. Justin looked up at him and gave him a cold smile. Then, he suddenly stuck out his leg. Yale was caught off guard. He lost his balance and dropped the bowl. “It’s so hot! Yale, what did I ever do to you? Why did you purposely spill it on me?” Justin shouted. Cody was the first to hear the commotion. He rushed into the room. One look at the mess changed his expression. He shoved Yale hard. “What the hell are you doing?! “I was afraid you’d actually do something to yourself because of my sister, so I went out of my way to get you a place by her side. I’ve done more than enough for you. So, why are you still hurting Justin?” Yale hit the corner of the table. The back of his head split open. He sucked in a sharp breath. After a long while, he used the wall for support and slowly got back on his feet. “Cody, take a good look. Who actually seems hurt?” Cody froze. Only then did he realize that Justin was completely unharmed. Yale was the one who had been burned by the spilled hot porridge. The back of his hand was red and swollen. The commotion caught Moon’s attention too. She walked into the room. “What happened?” “Moon, he deliberately burned me!” Justin grabbed Moon’s sleeve. His voice was full of pain. A flicker of hesitation crossed Cody’s face, but he said, “That’s right.” Yale almost laughed. What had he been hoping for? He did not look at Cody again. His voice was calm. “There are security cameras all over the house. You can pull up the footage.” Justin and Cody clearly had not thought of that. They exchanged a nervous glance. “Pull up the footage?” Moon repeated with a faintly amused smile. “Do you really think you’re worth that much trouble? “Even if you didn’t do it on purpose, you still dropped the bowl. That makes it your fault. Mr. Carter, deal with it according to the rules.” Yale stared at her in disbelief. After a long silence, he laughed. How could he have forgotten? When Moon loved someone, she always took their side. She had once treated him the same way, and she was doing the same for Justin. Liam immediately followed her orders. He brought over a kettle and had several servants force Yale’s hands open. Fear finally hit Yale. “What are you doing? No! Stop! My hands!” Scalding water poured over his hands. His hands were badly burned, and the skin began to peel. Pain shot through him. His face turned deathly pale, and his entire body shook. “Moon!” Cody panicked. “Yale used to be an incredible surgeon. You don’t have to ruin his hands!” Moon’s eyes flickered for a moment, but her voice remained cold. “Ruining them is for the best. That might make him think twice about leaving for another job. “Keep going until Justin is satisfied.” Yale had no idea how long it went on. When he finally regained consciousness, everyone else was gone. He lay alone on the floor and was barely able to move. He looked down at his hands. His hands were covered in swollen blisters, and his nails had turned dark. Those were his hands! They were the same hands that had once saved Cody and Moon after they were both accidentally shot. He had worked for more than forty hours without sleep to save them. They had called him a miracle worker. Yet his hands were ruined. He was barely able to stay conscious when he heard a commotion downstairs. A farmer stood in the foyer in wrinkled clothes. He held a large sack in one hand and wiped the sweat from his forehead with the other. Then, he gave the servants an awkward smile. “I’m here to see my son. He’s Moon’s boyfriend. “I brought some fresh vegetables too. I grew them myself. Yale and Moon both love them.” Chapter 3 It was Yale’s father! Yale’s ears started ringing. He had kept everything about Moon from his father. Daniel Xander still believed that Yale and Moon were as happy together as ever. “Does Moon have another boyfriend besides me? “Where did this beggar come from? He must be delusional! Moon, look at him!” Justin happened to walk through the foyer. He immediately put on a hurtful expression. Daniel froze. He looked helplessly at Moon, who stood behind Justin. Moon looked at him as if she did not know him and said coldly, “Old man, you’ve upset my fiance. Apologize to him.” “Moon? How could you—” He had not even finished speaking when Liam kicked him in the knee. Daniel fell to the floor. Liam grabbed him by his hair and forced him to apologize. “Didn’t you hear her? Apologize! Do you know who Mr. Mercer is? If you upset him, you and your son will pay with your lives!” “Dad!” Yale could not take it anymore. He stumbled downstairs and shoved Liam away. Liam tried to go after Daniel again. Yale looked straight at Moon. Tears glistened in his eyes. “When your enemies hurt you and left you seriously injured, my dad risked his life to take you in. “He was so careful with money that he wouldn’t even buy himself new clothes. All of it went toward gifts for you and Cody. “He’d spend dozens of hours on a train just to bring the two of you food he’d made himself. “What did my dad ever do to you? How could you humiliate him like this?” Moon stopped for a moment. She lowered her eyes and laughed bitterly. “He never did anything wrong to me. You’re the one who betrayed me.” “What?” Yale did not hear her clearly. “Take your father and leave. Do not ever show your face in front of me again.” Yale did not have time to ask what she meant. He helped Daniel back to his tiny room in the servants’ quarters. Daniel stared blankly at the room. It was small and stuffy. The paint had started to peel from the walls. It looked completely out of place in the luxurious mansion. His lips trembled for a long time before he finally managed to speak. “Moon and you—” Several servants outside the door interrupted him. “Yale, are you slacking off again? Go clean the bathroom! Take a condom upstairs for Ms. Xavier and Mr. Mercer! “Why aren’t you saying anything? Did you lose your voice along with your hands? “Seriously, did you really think sleeping with Ms. Xavier would make you someone important? “I heard what happened that day. Ms. Xavier, Mr. Xavier, and Mr. Mercer had figured out that you were up to no good. They even voted on how to punish you. “In the end, they decided to push you down the stairs and leave you with permanent damage to your legs. What a joke! You really make a pathetic excuse for a lover.” Yale froze. They had pushed him down the stairs and left him with permanent damage to his legs just for their amusement. He suddenly realized something. He turned to Daniel in a panic. The old man’s eyes immediately filled with tears. He did not ask anything but looked at Yale’s hands tearfully. “Yale, I… I’ll take you home.” A wave of bitterness spread through Yale. He fought back a sob and said, “There are only a few days left on my contract with the Xavier family. I’ll leave as soon as it expires.” He racked his brain to find ways to calm Daniel down. Then, he saw his father out of the mansion. When Yale returned to his room, he could barely move from exhaustion. Then, he stopped in surprise. The lights were off. Cody stood there with a birthday cake. Moon was lighting the candles. “Why are you just standing there? Yale, it’s your birthday today!” Cody looked a little guilty. “I’m sorry about your hands. I begged Moon so much until she agreed to celebrate your birthday.” Moon said in her usual detached voice, “Come. Have some cake.” Yale’s eyes stung. They used to make birthday cakes for him before and get drunk while singing for him. They would always say, “It’s a Xavier family tradition! You have to eat it, even if it tastes terrible.” How could it have tasted terrible? But those delicious cakes and those happy days were gone. Yale’s emotions lifted. He accepted the cake and took a bite. The next second, an intense tingling sensation spread through his body. He could barely breathe. His eyes were red, and he collapsed to the floor. He struggled in panic as his body reacted violently. A harsh, strained sound escaped his throat. “Help…” Only one thought filled his mind. ‘Help me!’ Moon did not move. Cody clutched his stomach and laughed until he could barely stand. “I told you he’d eat it! Justin, you owe me!” Chapter 4 “Fine, fine. I lost this round.” Justin walked over and gave Yale a kick. “What’s with that look? “We only added a little peanut to the cake because we knew you were allergic. We made a bet to see if you’d actually eat it. “Who knew you’d be dumb enough to eat it?” A bet? All this pain was because of a stupid bet! Yale grabbed his throat with both hands. He could barely breathe. His chest felt like it was about to burst. Moon realized something was wrong. Her expression changed. “He only had one bite. How could his reaction be this severe? “Justin, give him his allergy medicine!” Justin rolled his eyes. He reluctantly took out the medicine and shoved it into Yale’s mouth. Yale felt the tightness in his throat get worse. The pain was unbearable. He could not take it anymore. He turned his head and spat out blood. Just before he lost consciousness, he saw the coldness on Moon’s face crack. She rushed toward him in a panic and caught him in her arms. When Yale woke up again, he was in the hospital. Yale moved his arm, and it woke the woman beside him. “You’re awake!” A hint of relief flashed in Moon’s eyes. She reached out to touch his cheek but stopped herself. “Justin gave you the wrong medicine. It made your allergic reaction worse. “I can make it up to you. What do you want?” For the first time in five years, Yale saw a softness and guilt in her eyes. “Do you want me to get treatment for my memory loss sooner? Don’t worry, I—” Yale cut her off and said, “I want money.” Moon froze. “What did you say?” Yale said again, “I said, if you want to make it up to me, give me money.” Moon stared at him. Once she realized he was serious, she scoffed. She pulled out a card and threw it at his face. “I should’ve known what kind of person you are! “If you want money, take it. From now on, stay by my side and show Justin some respect.” She left the hospital room after that. She did not come back for more than ten days. Justin, however, kept sending Yale texts. [Do you know what Moon is doing right now?] [She’s with me.] Justin sent him several photos in a row. Moon looked happy in every photo. She watched the sunrise with him from a mountaintop and held his hand as they made wishes outside a church. She even went on a road trip with him along West Ridge Highway. Yale looked through the photos one by one. His eyes stung badly. He loved traveling. He used to plan trips with Moon all the time. Back then, Moon was always busy. She had to deal with problems within the Xavier family and handle pressure from all sides. She was so busy that all she could do was hold him and say, “After the wedding, I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.” When she finally had the time, she chose to spend it with Justin. Yale whispered to himself, “Are you doing all this to get back at me, or have you really fallen for Justin? Moon, can you even tell the difference?” He let out a bitter laugh and closed his chat with Justin. He transferred the money Moon had given him to Liam as payment for ending his contract early. Then, he booked plane tickets for himself and Daniel. ‘Forget it,’ he thought. He did not have the energy to keep trying to understand it all. Whatever had happened between him and Moon ended here. Yale never expected Cody to rush into his hospital room that night. “Yale, Moon was hurt by someone who has a grudge against her.” Cody looked frantic. “The blood bank is running low. You have the same rare blood type as her. Please, save her!” Yale looked at him. “Would it make a difference if I said no?” Cody went silent for a moment. “I’m sorry.” He signaled the bodyguards to hold Yale down. A long needle pierced Yale’s arm. Blood flowed into the collection bag. Yale’s forehead was beaded with sweat. His face grew paler and paler. Soon, his vision became blurry. “Cold… “Moon, Cody, I… I’m so cold…” Cody froze. He could barely bring himself to look at Yale. The doctor beside them grew anxious. “He’s already very weak. If you take any more blood, his life will be in danger!” “We’re doing this to save Moon. Yale will understand.” Cody clenched his fists. Tears glinted in his eyes. “Keep going!” Once they had taken enough blood, Cody hurried away. Yale lay unconscious in the hospital bed all night. At dawn, his fingers moved. He struggled to lift his heavy eyelids. The first thing he saw was Moon’s icy face. “You weren’t hurt…” Moon let out a cold laugh. She grabbed him by the throat. “I lied to Cody and told him I needed blood. I wanted to see if you’d refuse to save me again. “Guess what? Cody said Justin was the only one who gave his blood without hesitation! “Yale, couldn’t you do something for me just once? Just once!” Yale’s face turned red. He flung her hand away. “Stop… You’re crazy!” “Crazy? Yes. I’m crazy!” Moon let go of him. Then, she reached for his clothes and started pulling at them. Yale’s eyes turned red. He grabbed the water glass beside the bed and smashed it against her head. Moon had to step back. She touched her forehead. Her fingers felt wet. Yale’s chest rose and fell. His hands trembled as he rolled up his sleeve and held out his arm. His arm was covered with needle marks. All the hurt and bitterness he had kept inside for so long finally burst out. He shouted, “I never abandoned you five years ago! I was the one who gave you blood today too!” Chapter 5 Moon’s eyes widened. A flash of panic and doubt crossed her face. She quickly schooled her features into their usual cold, mocking expression. “I told you. I don’t remember anything about what happened five years ago. “As for who gave me the blood, Cody’d never lie to me.” After all, Yale and Cody had always been incredibly close. They had once shared a bed and stayed up talking about everything. They had protected each other when they were in danger and even promised to attend each other’s weddings. Sometimes, Moon was jealous of how much Yale cared about Cody. How could she believe him when what he told her implied that Cody had been lying all this time? Yale was not surprised. He fixed his clothes and offered a bitter smile. “I knew it.” He knew she would never believe him. He knew she had never trusted him. The pain in Yale’s eyes made Moon flinch. She turned her head and sneered. “You just don’t want me to touch you. I don’t want someone like you either.” She turned around, slammed the door, and left. Yale stayed where he was and tried to calm himself down. Then, he suddenly sensed the presence of someone outside. He looked up. Cody stood outside the door. He looked stunned. “Yale… “You know?” “About what?” Yale looked at him. Cody lowered his head. “So you do know… I’m sorry! Justin loves Moon so much. That’s why I told all those lies! “He said he just wanted to experience what it was like to have a wedding. Once the wedding is over, I’ll tell her the truth! “Just wait a little longer…” Yale shut the door in his face. Cody refused to give up. He kept rambling, trying to explain himself, but Yale did not respond. He assumed Yale was just angry. He sighed. “Take some time to calm down.” Yale listened until Cody’s footsteps faded into the distance. He covered his face as tears slipped through his fingers. He thought, ‘No, Yale. You need to let them go. ‘You still have your father. ‘You need to let them go so you and your father can live a peaceful life.’ The storm of emotions inside Yale slowly began to settle. Yale wiped his tears away and changed his clothes. Then, he left the hospital. As he walked out, he sent Daniel a text. [The flight leaves this afternoon. Just wait for me across the street.] Just then, a black Maybach came straight at him and slammed into him. Yale was thrown to the ground. A sharp crack sounded from his leg, and it bent at an unnatural angle. His vision went black from the pain. Then, he heard Moon’s voice. “Run over his stomach.” Yale looked at her in disbelief. The familiar woman sat in the back seat of the Maybach. Her face was dark and grim. Cody sat beside her. He looked uneasy. “Justin said he wouldn’t be comfortable letting Yale keep serving you unless he knew Yale could never have children. But isn’t this too dangerous?” “The driver knows how to handle it.” Moon looked at Yale on the ground. Her eyes shone with grief but also with a cruel sense of satisfaction. “When he left me in that car back then, he never stopped to think about whether I’d be in danger. “I just want him to know what it feels like to be on the verge of death!” As soon as she finished, the driver stepped on the gas. The car ran over Yale’s stomach. He threw his head back and let out a horrifying scream. The driver turned the wheel and came at him a second time. “No!” Yale had never been this terrified. He dragged himself across the ground and tried to crawl away. Blood spread across the ground beneath him. But his leg was broken, so he could not get far. The car came toward him again. Yale closed his eyes in despair. Bang! A deafening crash rang out, but the pain never came. Yale opened his eyes and stared ahead in shock. An old man stood between him and the car. He still wore the same wrinkled clothes and had managed to stop the car. Then, he slowly collapsed into a pool of blood. He used all his remaining strength to turn his head. He forced out a smile. “Yale, don’t worry…” Yale felt as if his entire world had collapsed at that moment. He screamed with all his strength, “Dad!!!” Chapter 6 Moon frowned as she watched the scene unfold and immediately called an ambulance. At the hospital, the doctor examined Daniel. His expression turned grim. “This is a very difficult surgery. Only the hospital director can perform it.” “Then, get the director.” The doctor agreed. Just then, Moon’s phone rang. It was Justin. He was sobbing hysterically. “Moon, I accidentally fell down the stairs! “They said only the hospital director can operate on me if I want to keep my leg. “What am I going to do? I’m so scared!” Moon froze. Yale had been staring at Daniel the whole time. He suddenly looked up and threw himself out of his wheelchair. “Don’t let the director go to Justin! My father will die! Please! “Please! I’ll do whatever you want. Please!” Yale was frantic. He kept begging her over and over, and the nurses could not calm him down. Moon said nothing. A look of conflict crossed her face. “Moon, what are you waiting for?” Cody grabbed her hand. “How is Justin supposed to live without his leg?! Of course, he needs the surgery first! “He was willing to give you all his blood to save you!” Those words changed Moon’s mind. She made her decision. “The director is coming with me to see Justin.” “Moon, are you trying to make me die?!” Yale grabbed her leg and refused to let go. Moon’s face turned icy. “Die? You don’t have the guts to do that.” She pried Yale’s fingers off one by one. She walked a few steps away. Then, she seemed to feel a little sympathy. Moon turned back and gave an order. “Give Yale access to the operating room. “Yale, you’re a top surgeon. You can save your father yourself.” “My hands were ruined because of you! I can’t perform surgery!” Yale screamed in despair, but Moon was already too far away to hear him. Yale collapsed where he was. Blood seeped from his wounds. A few seconds later, Yale seemed to snap back to reality. He grabbed a nurse’s hand and begged them to take him to the operating room. Yale picked up the scalpel. His hand shook so badly that he could not even make a precise incision. “Yale, don’t push yourself…” Daniel’s lips moved weakly. “I’m happy. I’ll die happy that I protected you…” His voice grew weaker and weaker. Yale thought, ‘No. No, no…’ Daniel finally closed his eyes. He stopped breathing. “No!” Tears burst from Yale’s eyes. He threw himself at Daniel and held his body tightly. “It’s all my fault! All of this is my fault! Dad, open your eyes. Yell at me! Say something…” Why had this happened? He had already booked their flight for that day. They had been so close. They had only needed a bit of time. He cried until his voice turned hoarse. His father had always been so good to him. Yale would never feel his father’s hands on his shoulder again. He would never awkwardly try to comfort Yale again. … A few days later, Yale stood in the middle of the crowd and watched Justin get into the wedding car. People nearby chatted among themselves. “What a grand wedding! Mr. Mercer must be the most important man in Ms. Xavier’s heart!” “I heard that when Ms. Xavier met his parents, she told them that they’d share a bed in life and a grave in death. She even said she’d protect her husband with her life.” Yale’s voice was hoarse as he asked, “Really?” The people around him jumped. They turned and saw a gaunt man with a limp. He looked almost ghostly. They instinctively stepped back. “Y-Yes, of course…” Yale smiled. He left the crowd and got into a van. Then, he drove straight toward Justin’s wedding car. “Who’s that?!” Moon turned around in the other car, but she could not see the driver inside the van. Cody frowned and said from the passenger seat, “You said you wanted to give Justin the wedding he dreamed of. You said you’d forgive Yale after the wedding and marry him. “I was waiting to see you two get married. Who would cause trouble at a time like this? “Moon, you’re an excellent shot. Hurry and shoot the person causing trouble!” Moon did not hesitate. She pulled out her gun. She aimed at the driver’s seat of the van and pulled the trigger. The bullet shattered the windshield and struck Yale in the chest. A wave of pain tore through him. He let go of the steering wheel and fell back against the seat. Daniel’s face flashed before his eyes. He looked at Yale sorrowfully. “They treated you so badly. They always made you cry. Come with me.” “Okay…” Yale said softly. He used the last of his strength to turn his head. Moon’s eyes widened in horror when she saw him smile at her. He thought, ‘That’s good. ‘From now on, even you won’t be able to make me cry anymore.’
