Chapter 1
Standing before Cloudington High's main building, Mandy Willow's expression was haughty and distant as she told me, "Thank you for this… Chain of Fortune, Zac. I will gladly receive it, but I can't accept your love for now!"
Tall, slender, and bearing a pretty face while carrying herself with an alluring innocence, she would definitely draw stares with her presence.
However, I zoned out as I stared at her just then.
What a gold digger!
She had never refused any of my gifts and always had an excuse to keep me hanging while stopping me from giving up.
There was a crowd gathered around me, gathering and rubbernecking.
"Zac Hall really is the top simp in Cloudington, catering to all of Mandy's whims like he's possessed!"
"What a shame. She's the prom queen and prideful, and she also has to stay obsessed over that jerk called Frank Young. To her, Zac isn't even a backup!"
Vroom! Crash!
That was when a modified motorbike streaked toward us, knocking over the bouquets of 999 roses that I had arranged into a heart shape.
"You're mine, Mandy! Don't you dare flirt with other boys!"
It was Frank Young, Mandy's first and one true love.
A jock with a thuggish demeanor, he wasn't all that tall and had average looks, with his hair dyed platinum blond while he sported a pair of silver ear piercings.
Like a genuine delinquent, he looked both fashionable and rebellious.
Moreover, he was infamous as a jerk who was known to date a few girls at the same time.
Even then, Mandy remained obsessed with him and happy to cling to him.
In her eyes, everything about him was great—he was wild and unbridled, but also her knight in shining armor.
Even as her eyes twinkled, she bit her lip as she quickly clarified, "Please, Frank—don't get the wrong idea! Zac and I are just classmates. He insisted on giving me this and even confessed his feelings to me. I had no choice!"
The way her tears could flow out right then really made her look like such a tame puppy, but I felt only disgust and hatred as I watched them flirt.
In my last life, they had worked together to screw me over, destroying my family and leaving me to die with unresolved resentment.
It was despair and anguish that went beyond words.
The hatred I had was an inferno blazing in my heart, and I could rush up to strangle them right then!
However, I also understood that haste makes waste, if not ruining everything outright.
And mere murder was letting them off easy—I had much better ideas.
That included helping them hook up as much as I could, so that they were stuck with each other.
Then, amid their glee, they would find their lives suddenly turned upside down as I took them apart, piece by piece, until they were devoured by terror and regret!
Chapter 2
Just then, Frank grinned as he stared at the Chain of Fortune. "Hey, nice bracelet! Seven different diamonds too—it must be worth six figures, no? Zac sure is generous!"
Mandy read between the lines and promptly purred at him, "Oh, Frank—you can have it if you like it! I'm no gold digger, and our love is worth much more than this bracelet!"
Hearing that, I clenched my knuckles.
How two-faced—rejecting my confession and then handing off my gift to a jerk like Frank!
What did she take me for?!
Frank eyed me with a smug grin as he reached for the bracelet, but I moved before he could snatch the Chain of Fortune out of Mandy's hands.
Mandy was at once upset and snapped loudly, "What are you doing, Zac?! Give it to Frank now!"
"Why?" I retorted coolly. "I spent six figures on this."
"You're such a tightwad and despicable!" Mandy hollered. "You gave it to me, so it's mine! I can then decide who I give it to, and it's none of your business!"
I laughed despite myself.
I was a tightwad and despicable?
The audacity! Everything she was wearing—even her bags and the cosmetic products in it—had all come from my money!
There was also her school fees, rent, and utility bills!
Worst of all, she would also lie to me for more money, and then give it to Frank!
Did she think I wouldn't know?
In my last life, I had allowed it and never took offense because I loved her more than myself, even though she treated me with insignificance.
But this time, I wasn't playing to her tune!
However, I didn't argue despite my rage, even forcing myself to stay calm and smile. "Sorry, Mandy—I was being rash, but the bracelet is just a replica. It isn't worth a lot of money, so it's no good for you, let alone Frank!"
Mandy was stunned, but she soon snapped, "You're impossible! To think I trusted you, only for you to give me cheap rubbish! I almost got Frank upset too!"
I had to lower my gaze to hide my glee. "Yeah, it's all my fault. Your love for Frank is priceless, so I'll buy you a designer bracelet in a few days as an apology!"
Mandy giggled right then. "Now that's better! At least you have a conscience, or I won't be talking to you for the rest of my life!"
And with that, she linked arms with Frank and left, strutting like a proud peacock.
There were sighs echoing all around as the crowd dispersed, while I looked up, taking a deep breath.
However, I was also smiling coolly.
'Mandy and Frank, you pigs… Don't even dream of manipulating me again!
'Today's just the start, as your comeuppance shall come, one after the other!'
-
After gym class, Mandy brought her best friend, Alice King, along.
The latter was haughty as ever as she demanded, "Oh, Zac, get us some drinks already. It's scorching hot—can't you see that Mandy is thirsty? Remember, it's two bottles. Now hurry up!"
I paused as I remembered.
In the two years I was smitten with Mandy that I would obediently bring her drinks and snacks like a slave.
It went without saying that the same went for breakfast and lunch, along with fruits and expensive coffee.
Such was the daily life of the obsessed, every single day for two years!
Worse of all, I had to bring two portions every single time, as Alice was eligible for free stuff too.
One way or the other, I was simply so crazy for Mandy that I would slave myself away for the people around her, hoping for them to put in a good word for me.
However, doing that never helped.
If anything, Alice was an ingrate through and through, always inspiring Mandy with worse ideas.
She would also always badmouth me, calling me stupid and delusional while taking free stuff from me all the time.
It was simply true what they said: birds of the same feather flocked together.
But Alice had gotten so used to taking advantage of me that she deluded herself too.
I didn't move as I glared at her coolly in turn.
Seeing that, Mandy snapped at me in cool displeasure, "Are you deaf? Remember—it's that expensive orange juice you always buy!"
For two years, she had gotten used to everything I did for her and convinced herself it was her right.
Chapter 3
I looked at Mandy's smug face in turn, finding her as self-centered as she was laughable.
With the way she ordered me around, one would think that I owed her a million bucks and must serve her every whim.
Still, I held my tongue and turned to leave.
"Hmph!" Alice snorted coolly. "I knew he'd get it like a good dog!"
Mandy giggled confidently in turn. "Of course. Let's just sit on that bench and wait."
Soon, when I returned with two bottles of orange juice, I walked past them on purpose.
Alice promptly hollered, "Hey, are you blind?! We're right here! Bring it over!"
Mandy too was crossing her arms and frowning, a little upset at the disrespect.
However, they could only watch as I uncapped both bottles and drank a mouthful from each bottle.
Smacking my lips, I then nodded. "Oh, that was great!"
Then, placing the bottles on the ground, I told them, "You want them? Come and get them!"
"You jerk!" Alice snapped, her eyes wide with rage.
Mandy pursed her lips in turn, and growled coolly, "What are you doing, Zac?! You're treating us like beggars now?! I guess I gave you too much credit!"
I shrugged, pursing my lips innocently. "I bought both bottles with my money and was just taste-testing. How is that a problem? Just buy it yourself if you don't want to drink my spit!"
As I gloated, I watched them closely, relishing their looks of grief.
I had decided to crush them, but a little spanking from time to time was necessary. After all, their egos were like tennis balls, and you needed to bounce them a little before serving.
Hence, while Mandy was stumped, I laughed and left.
Alice was stamping her feet repeatedly before kicking the bottles and knocking them over.
"That's way out of line!" she hollered. "How dare he?! Don't talk to him, Mandy. He'll be groveling like a dog in less than three days!"
Mandy was gritting her teeth in silence, her chest heaving as she was clearly angry.
That was when Frank came over, running his fingers through his hair as he handed Mandy a hotel room card with a roguish grin. "For tonight. It's a nice place—plenty of fun!"
He had booked a hotel room, clearly intent on sealing the deal.
After all, meat in the mouth was much better than just looking.
"Oh… Okay!" Mandy blushed as she hesitantly took the card, but she slid it into her pocket in an instant.
She was always so tame and adorable with her one true love, her earlier frustrations now disappearing without a trace.
"Good girl." Frank grinned, snapping his fingers. "I'll be waiting!"
As he turned and glided away, Mandy watched him with a silly gaze, refusing to turn away even after a long while.
It was not until Alice tickled her and tried to snatch the room card that they giggled and ran away.
I was watching nearby, hatching a plan.
In my last life, Mandy had received the same hotel card too, but her mother, Helen York, had stopped him before she could leave in the evening, putting a stop to Frank's plans.
This time, however, I intended to help Mandy so that she would get what she wanted and stay stuck with that douchebag forever!
