Synopsis
Sofia Su, a former Grammy Best New Artist who sold 30 million albums, is now 42, broke, and abandoned. She joins the talent show "Rising Star," where she earns unanimous approval despite her emotional backstory of losing her grandmother after her Grammy win. Facing a $5 million lawsuit threat from her ex-agent, she performs a punk song in the semifinals, expressing two decades of resentment, and wins the final against 18-year-old Cathy with a new song, 53% to 47%. After her victory, she signs with Universal and Live Nation, announces a 30-city farewell tour, and declares, "Before forty I sang for others; after forty, I sing for myself." Sofia buys a small house, plants a cherry tree, welcomes Cathy as her neighbor, and shares a poignant moment with Judge Jack, who arrives with white roses, highlighting that at 42, it's not too early or too late—you're still here, and so am I.
